Do you offer refunds for dues?

Reminders
  • We're a member-supported 501c(3) nonprofit organization. Like most, we rely on members paying "dues" to sustain the organization.

  • Dues essentially go straight into paying the bills!

  • Unlike commercial organizations, Membership is neither a "product" nor a "service". Dues aren't really "profit" for us, nor a "purchase" for you.

  • The only guaranteed benefit of membership is access to the facility and to the community.

  • If you had access during a given period of time, you've received the benefit -- whether you "used" it every day or not at all.

  • Refund Policy - Dues

To maintain "customer satisfaction", many of the commercial businesses you interact with in modern day life will offer refunds, upon request, for virtually any reason -- even based solely on your own regrets, disappointments, or negligence.  Since "access" is not something that can be "returned", and we have the same bills to pay regardless of how much you "use" your membership, we don't have the same luxury here at 10BitWorks. (We also don't really have "customers", let alone "owners" or "employees". We're all just Members!)

That said, we aim to be reasonable with refunds. The members tasked with money management, member communication, and taking care of our infrastructure are all humans and make mistakes. In those situations, we'll happily ask our payment processor to reverse the erroneous charges!

There are also things that are not our fault, but not your fault either. We use some external systems that outside our control, which can go down or misbehave without notice. Even in those cases, we'll take the hit and offer you a refund, since we chose to use those systems, and rolling with the punches is exactly what our spare funds are for.

The only situation in which we can't offer refunds is when it's truly "on you", such as when you had unreasonable expectations, failed to heed our published documentation, or neglected to monitor your finances or communication channels.

Thus, our refund "policy" can be summarized in one word: Accountability. This comes as no surprise, as it echoes our Member Rules and aligns with the ethos of our community!

Note: When we refund a credit/debit card transaction, our payment processor sends the full amount, less any payment processor fees, back to the same card as the original purchase.
