How do I become a member?

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of 10BitWorks, San Antonio's largest and oldest makerspace! Joining our community gives you 24/7 access to a comprehensive workshop and a vibrant network of fellow makers.

If you're still on the fence, it's a good idea to come tour our space before subscribing as a member.

If you're so stoked to join a makerspace and can't wait for a tour, you can subscribe online immediately, and come in for onboarding later! just know that while you are technically a member after your dues are paid, you can't access the building (outside of tour hours) until you complete an in-person onboarding session and get an access card.

1. Visit Our Membership Page
Navigate to our official membership page to see the available options. Most individuals will want an Individual Membership.

2. Sign Waiver
Click the "SUBSCRIBE" button under your chosen plan. You will need to consent to our community policies and digitally sign our liability waiver. An emergency contact must also be provided.

3. Make Payment
You'll be directed to a page on our partner platform, Squarespace, to complete payment of your dues for the first month. This will also subscribe you to recurring payments for future dues, until you cancel. It's important that the email address you enter here is an inbox you'll actually pay attention to! Your order receipts will be sent here, as well as your Slack invite.

4. Find your Confirmation email
Upon completion of payment, you'll be sent an order confirmation email. Make sure you can find this, and move the message out of Spam if applicable, as important financial notifications will be sent here! If you found the email, your membership has officially started - it does not wait until you complete onboarding or get an access card.

5. Log into our Slack Community
You're not done yet!  In the email you'll find a link that lets you join our Slack Community. Create a Slack account using the same email address as your order, and install the Slack app on your smartphone. It is imperative that you participate in Slack via the smartphone app - all member communication and important announcements will be found there! You can silence the notifications of any channels you're not interested, so don't worry about being spammed with notifications.

6. Complete Your Onboarding
Bravo! If you've made it this far, it's time to come in to our facility for "onboarding" - preferably during our Open House hours. If you can't make it at one of those times, reach out on Slack to find members who are certified for onboarding that can meet you at a different time.

7. Introduce yourself and join channels
While waiting for your orientation day, read the Slack history and join channels that are of interest to you. For example, if you want to learn or make things with wood, join #woodworking. We'd also appreciate it if you introduced yourself in the main channel!
